AkzoNobel, the international paints and coatings company, commissioned IES to design, manufacture and commission a SCADA/PLC (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/ Programmable Logic Controller)-based control system for the paint filling line at the Dulux plant in Cork. Dulux is the largest paint manufacturer in Ireland; it began production in 1886, and became part of AkzoNobel in 2008.

Critical Chiller for Exothermic Process in Pharmaceuticals
A major pharmaceutical company engaged IES to design, build and commission a chiller skid to provide coolant to a reactor. As with many other IES projects, the work needed to be carried out with the minimum of disruption to the manufacturing process.
Henkel SuperGlue Bottle Caps Leak Detection and Height Measurement
Henkel manufactures universal Super Glue bottle caps at one of its facilities in Ireland. These caps are shipped worldwide to their bottling facilities for fitting onto different bottles in sizes up to 50 ml. The task for IES was firstly to replace all manual testing for leaks, and then to carry out the necessary height checks to 100% efficiency – without increasing the machine cycle time.
Customisable Critical Alarm Mimic for Control Room
Where alarm systems in a highly volatile environment, such as a petrochemical plant, are concerned, simplicity has to be one of the keywords. Not every person on-site, nor even every member of staff, will be a trained engineer capable of dealing with a potential emergency. Mistakes can be made, and, if there are no fail-safe structures in place, problems can escalate.
